In 1974, Co-founders Gary “Moe” Meszaros and George “Jig” Warren bought a vacant automobile service station and converted it into a restaurant and bar appropriately named “Quaker Steak & Lube.” It’s simple menu featured steaks, burgers, salads and baked potatoes.
In 1976, the menu was expanded to include the newly popular Buffalo-style chicken wings. Prepared with a choice of unique sauces of their own creation, Quaker Steak & Lube’s wings began to attract a large following.
In 1988, they received their first major award voted “Best Wings in the USA,” winning the National Chicken-Out competition in Cleveland, Ohio. Today, there are 18 different wings sauces with their degrees of “hotness” described on the menu’s “Wing-O-Meter.”
The Lube, with its Awards-Wining food to include “Best Wings USA,” supercharged events and the most unique décor in the restaurant industry, is a unique blend of great service, signature human fuel and fun-family dining.
